当てる弓を引かないで、当たる弓を引く。（You no longer try to hit the target. You draw a bow in a way that enables the arrow to hit the target.)

NHK World 「Samurai Spirit」シリーズ「弓道編」より、
石川武夫　八段の言葉です。

弓道では的にあたるかどうかはさほど重要ではない。
的にあたることは、
「弓を引いたときの精神状態の現れ」として起きるだけのことなんですね。
